MTA Transitions from Stickers to State Issued ID
Current Stickers Expire July 31!
Important Update from Parking Services! Make sure to follow UMBC Parking Services on myUMBC for additional updates.
One of the many great benefits of working at UMBC for regular status faculty and staff is the ability to ride Baltimore area transit for free. This includes MTA buses, the Light Rail, Metro Subway and commuter bus service lines 120, 150 and 160.
Until now, stickers were utilized on your UMBC ID. However, effective August 1, you will no longer be able to use these stickers but instead will be required to obtain a permanent Maryland State ID.
How do you get one?
- Employees must fill out and electronically submit the following to Wendi Myers (wendi1@umbc.edu) UMBC's coordinator:
- ID application
- State Security Card Acknowledgement
- Copy of their government-issued photo ID
- jpeg photograph of the application
Please read the Directions for more specific information and photo restrictions.
- The ID coordinator then must verify all necessary criteria have been met and then email the package to SCPC at dgs.scpc@maryland.gov
- SCPC will process the application the ID coordinator will get a "received" response. After 48 business hours, the employee may go to the location indicated on their application to obtain their ID Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 8 am - 2 pm.
If you have questions about this change, please contact Parking Services at 410-455-2551 or via email at parking@umbc.edu.
