----------------------

What is the Exempt Staff Senate (ESS)? The Exempt Staff Senate is a committee of dedicated staff who advocate for the well-being of all exempt staff across UMBC to the administration. The Senate will work to provide creative solutions to the challenges staff are facing. The Senate builds relationships throughout all areas of the campus to uplift the whole community and advance our institution. We do this by developing thoughtful programming and events that support our campus community, promoting personal and professional development opportunities, facilitating communication of staff interests between campus leadership and our constituents, and by building a network of staff committed to supporting one another and UMBC as a community.

What is the Council of University System Staff (CUSS)? Staff serving on the Council represent all staff at UMBC at the system-level. Council representatives and alternates report to the Chancellor and Presidents and share staff concerns across the University System of Maryland (USM). CUSS representatives must have one year of experience in USM shared governance to run for a position. Contact Roy Prouty, CUSS Representative (proutyr1@umbc.edu) with any questions or concerns.
